We are creating a non-governmental organization

NOMADA Association was established in November 2009 in Wrocław. For 15 years, we have been supporting individuals who, for various reasons, had to leave their countries of origin. While our main area of operation is Wrocław, we also work in other towns across Lower Silesia and provide interventions throughout Poland. For many years, we have also extended our support to individuals placed in guarded centers for foreigners. The Nomada team comprises experts in migration law, anti-discrimination education, hate-motivated violence, and gender-based violence.

How We Work and What We Do?

We provide advice on residency and asylum law, labor law, family law, and access to benefits and social services.

We reach out to communities and individuals with migration experience, assess their needs and challenges, and provide education on bias-motivated violence.

We assist individuals in need of support during visits to institutions, offices, healthcare facilities, the police, or the Border Guard.

We provide training for students, various professional groups (such as public transport workers, social workers, and civil servants). Special support is offered to educators.

We build relationships with migrant communities and ensure that their voices are heard.

We employ individuals with migration experience. We run the “POBO Community Spot,” a meeting place for migrants and local communities.

We never leave people without support; if we are not competent in a particular matter, we refer them to another organization.

We are defenders of human rights. For over 10 years, we have been involved in protecting the rights of the Romani community, the largest and most marginalized ethnic minority in Europe.

Since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border (August ’21), we have been engaged in providing assistance to people on the move who have found themselves on this route.

In response to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, we are addressing the needs of people fleeing to Poland to escape the war in their home country.

We support individuals on the move who experience homelessness and violence from public service officers.

At NOMADA, we face circumstances where systemic solutions are insufficient or do not exist at all. We take on cases that fall outside the scope of other organizations and institutions. We provide effective support in the most complex situations
