Why newsletter?

We observe how the space of social media is increasingly subject to restrictions and manipulation. Systematic content censorship and a lack of transparency in the decision-making processes of platforms like Facebook and Instagram pose significant challenges to freedom of speech and access to reliable information. Below are a few examples:

Censorship of Palestinian Content:

  • In 2023, Meta removed over 1,000 posts supporting Palestine, including images of the Palestinian flag and information about conflict victims, often without justification.
  • Palestinian media organizations reported an 80% decrease in the reach of their content, while Israeli content experienced an increase in visibility.

Hate Speech and Content Banning

  • In 2025, META liberalized its policies on hate speech, allowing content such as “Immigrants are filthy, disgusting trash” or “Trans people are immoral” to be published. Such changes could lead to the normalization of discrimination and the intensification of hate.
  • Organizations promoting access to abortion, such as Plan C and the Lilith Fund, have experienced bans on their content or entire accounts. For example, a post by the organization Ipas about the WHO protocol for medical abortion was removed by Instagram for allegedly violating rules on “selling illegal products,” despite the post not mentioning any sales.

Such actions limit the space for civil society organizations and undermine the possibility of open and honest public debate.

In the face of increasing brutality in public debate and growing restrictions on social media, we want to build a direct relationship with you – without censorship, without violence, without unnecessary scrolling.
