POBO - Community Spot

Nomada is all about people— we work with and for them.

For 15 years, we’ve been creating a safe space for migrants, refugees, and the local community. Everyone can count on us. Together, we have created a support network around Nomada, which needs constant reinforcement to endure.

Starting in May 2024, together with migrants, we are creating POBO—a welcoming spot on the map of Wrocław. It’s a space for meetings, grassroots activities, original events, informal education for children, and a place of respite for those who need it.

Why are we doing this? Because the communities of Wrocław, migrant organizations, and activists need a place to gather, talk, share experiences, and integrate. To finally have somewhere to belong.

We organize and host film nights, meetings with kids from the Roma community, summer trips, community gatherings, a Café Corner with books in various languages, migrant-led events, educational activities, workshops, exhibitions, meetings for Arab women, pilates for women, Polish language lessons, and non-binary community meetups.

At Pobożnego 9 Street in the Nadodrze district of Wrocław, in a space provided by the Student Dormitory of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław.

Reading List of the Multicultural Reading Room POBO

Regulations of the POBO Multicultural Reading Room

– The Reading Room is open to the public during POBO’s opening hours.
– Using the reading room is free of charge and applies to accessing publications on-site.
– Books and comics may only be read on-site, with no option to borrow them externally.
– A maximum of 5 books/comics can be taken from the shelf at a time. Exceptions are justified cases, which should be reported to the person on duty in the reading room.
– Titles taken from the shelf must be recorded on the list placed next to the collection.
– Publications must be placed back in the spot from which they were taken or returned to the person on duty in the reading room.
– On selected days, a person responsible for the collection will be on duty in the reading room, providing full service for the users.
– Individuals whose behavior disrupts the use of the reading room for others are not allowed to use its services.
– In case of damage to a publication, it is advisable to purchase the same title or another specified by the person on duty in the reading room.
– Any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding the collection should be directed to the person on duty in the reading room or to the email address: [email protected].
– We encourage everyone to follow the above regulations to ensure a pleasant and hassle-free experience for all users. Happy reading!

Code of Conduct at “POBO” Community Spot

At “POBO” Community Spot, we prioritize gatherings of individuals and communities committed to equality, inclusion, and fair treatment in an atmosphere of mutual respect, inclusive language, and openness.
As a social organization, Nomada Association is committed to adhering to the applicable laws in Poland, the organization’s statutes, and the policies developed by the association. Based on these frameworks, we define the principles of interpersonal interactions at “POBO” Community Spot.
We do not tolerate any forms of favoritism, harmful language, discrimination, abuse, marginalization, or offensive behavior based on gender, ethnicity, religion, color, beliefs, sexuality, gender identity, socioeconomic class, caste, ability, or age. We do not accept sexism, racism, colorism, homophobia, biphobia, interfobia, transphobia, hostility, antisemitism, Islamophobia, fascism, ageism, ableism, and other intersectional forms of discrimination. In concern for the environment and climate, we do not accept the consumption of meat products in the “POBO” space and we practice waste segregation. Each person responsible for organizing activities is obliged to prepare the space, clean up after the activity, and leave the place ready for use by others.
Additionally, at “POBO” Community Spot, we do not tolerate any acts of violence, abuse, or harassment – whether verbal, physical, sexual, or otherwise – against visitors, guests, partners, and employees. In the event of a breach of the Code of Conduct, Nomada Association reserves the right to cancel the event, deny access to “POBO” Community Spot with immediate effect, and initiate legal and/or remedial actions in accordance with applicable regulations and the standards of Nomada Association.
