Working Group

Wrocław Working Group for Migration and Multicultural Society

The Wrocław Working Group for Migration and Multicultural Society is a local collaboration space for organizations working in the field of migration and interculturalism in the city and region. Our group works towards an effective process of integrating migrants into various areas of socio-economic life.

Goals of the Working Group

  • Networking and mutual support: We build a strong cooperation network between organizations to effectively work on the integration and support of migrants.
  • Creating and providing expert knowledge: We offer qualitative opinions and recommendations for municipal and regional institutions to support the creation and implementation of public policies.
  • Co-creating strategic documents: We actively participate in the development of local public policies to ensure they address the needs of diverse communities.
  • Developing joint positions: We aim to reach consensus on key issues concerning migration and interculturalism.

Values and Motivation

  • Local Focus: We operate based on the principle “Think globally, act locally,” considering the broader context and solidarity with diverse communities.
  • Cohesion: We strive for internal cohesion, even though diversity of views and beliefs within the group is natural. Our goal is to support the main directions of the group’s demands.
  • Impact: We want to have a real impact on social changes, public policies, and decisions regarding the use of public funds.
  • Professionalism: We aim for high-quality communication, clear objectives, and accountability for our commitments.

Nomada, together with other organizations that are part of the Grupa Granica (Border Group), highlights cases of human rights violations and the extreme conditions faced by individuals trapped at the Polish-Belarusian border.

The aim of these actions is to raise public awareness and put pressure on authorities to comply with international law regarding the protection of refugees.

Nomada provides material assistance to individuals on the move, primarily targeting Guarded Centers for Foreigners, where people who have expressed their intention to seek international protection in Poland at the border are staying. Additionally, we are involved in organizing shelter for those individuals who reach the southwestern part of Poland.

Nomada also offers legal support to individuals seeking international protection in Poland. We represent migrants in cases involving abuse by Border Guard officers and assist in preparing and submitting applications for international protection.

Nomada is also engaged in social campaigns aimed at educating people about the situation of migrants and the challenges related to migration policies.

At Nomada, we believe that migration policy in Poland is insufficient and requires thorough reforms. We advocate for the need for accurate data, adequate support for migrants, and necessary reforms in the employment of foreigners and the documentation of their stay.
