The Mobile Socio-Cultural Center of the Masafer Yata region

31/12/2012 by redaktor

The Mobile Socio-Cultural Center of the Masafer Yata region was the liaison between villages and regions in Palestine. Thanks to its mobility we were able to reach most remote and emarginated regions in order to create with its inhabitants a new structure of contacts and connections.

The project also allowed other Palestinian non-governmental organizations, activists, volunteers and animators of culture from all around the globe to get acquainted with the political and economic situation of South Hebron.

Thanks to it we were able to make everyone aware about the situation on the Western Bank, which due to its economical exclusion less known than for example in Europe.

Through the project agenda we have completed a series of development workshops for a group of chosen young people, which may be the contribution to improve their professional and educational future.

Most attention has been paid to young women – to help them to equalize their social chances.

Throughout the projects duration we managed to decrease the isolation of the Masafer Yata region.

We took hold of relations with local leaders from the region, organizations and socio-cultural activists like: HIRN, ADWAR, Joradan Valley Solidarity, Hebron Rehabilitation Committee, Popular Struggle Committee Al Masara, Bustan Qaraka i Environmental Education Center, Dar Qandeeli, Palestinian School of Art, AM Qattan Foundation, The Palestinians Independent Commission for Human Rights, Women’s for Legal Aid and Counselling.

A milestone of the project was also the component of global education which took the target to make people in Poland aware in matters of South Hebron and the whole Palestinian Autonomy.

For its sake we produced a movie „Palestine on the table”, which presents stories of people fighting with the occupation through cultivation of traditional kitchen and ecological growth of crops.

The mentioned movie grows more and more into Europe’s ecological movements, fair trade, slow food – what allows us to reach more and more people with its message.

Together with the movie a booklet has been created which gives additional insight to the issues presented in the artwork, and also can be of help during leading meetings regarding Palestinian Autonomy. As a part of it we have led meetings in five cities in Poland ( Gdańsk, Toruń, Kraków, Lublin & Łódź)

Project duration: 1st of April until December 31st 2012

Funding: 192 258 zł
