Shmuel Zygielbojm, a Bund activist and representative of the Jewish left, who had pleaded in vain with the free world to intervene, wrote after the fall of the uprising:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI cannot continue to be silent and to live while the last remnants of the Jewish people, whom I represent, are being murdered. (\u2026) Let humanity look upon this, perhaps it will move their conscience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
